Earlier this evening my wife received this text from her sister.

Warning! Do not go to any walmart
tonite. Gang initation to shoot 3
women tonite.  Not sure which
walmart.  Apd confirmed on tv. fwd to
all girls in ur phone.

I assume this has spread like wildfire to cellphones around San Angelo. Arriving home, I quickly checked the San Angel Local News Websites (chuckle) but no sign of the threat. The best I could tell just dated news stories from several days ago.

My wife placed a call to the non-emergency SAPD (San Angelo Police Department) phone number to ask about the text message. Before she could get out ‘text mess-’ the dispatcher cut in and explained…

“We are aware of the text message, there is no evidence of the claim and we don’t know the origins. As a precaution we have additional officers on site at both San Angelo WalMart locations”. She continued to say, “The same text message has be circulating through the Abilene, and Midland/Odessa areas as well”.
